Instructors: Dr. Dan Estep, and/or Dr. Suzanne
Hetts.
This five week telecourse is suitable for any animal professional*
as well as the insatiable-for-knowledge (inquisitive)
dog owner. The course will apply the science of ethology
to dog behavior, and address confusing and often misunderstood
topics such as drives, dominance, genetic effects on behavior,
and many more. Canine communication will be covered in
depth. You will be better able to interpret what the dogs
you work with are telling you, to understand the “why” of
dog behavior, to handle dogs more safely and humanely,
and to recognize how significantly your behavior affects
your dog’s. This course will get you away from “pop”
dog psychology misinformation, help you become an educated
consumer of information about dogs, and help you better
communicate with the dogs in your life. This is a great
course for trainers preparing for CCPDT
certification.
The fifth and final week of this course will be a discussion
group. This is a great opportunity to review, clarify and
ask additional questions about the material covered in
the previous four weeks. Participants are encouraged to
prepare examples from their own work for the discussion
week.
The course comes with class notes and recommended readings.
You will receive a link via email a couple of days before
class. You can download the notes with the password provided
in the email.
Our Canine Body Posture video is another valuable tool to help
understand and interpret canine behavior. As a special bonus to
telecourse participants, we are offering the video at a reduced
price of $35.95. Click
here to view a description of the video. Video content will
be covered in Week 3 of the Telecourse.
This course (with the discussion group) has been approved
