One of the most common complaints that dog owners have
is that their dogs cause problems when they are left alone.
They bark, destroy things, house soil or escape from the
property and cause headaches for the owners and their neighbors.
These problems can be caused by a variety of different
causes, from boredom to separation anxiety. The causes
are often very different from what the owners think they
are, such as spite, revenge or just “acting out.” Many
dogs are labeled as having “separation anxiety” when
in fact they do not.
In this class we’ll go over the various causes for
home alone problems, how to identify the each and how to
prevent, manage and resolve them. We’ll talk about
different behavior modification and management techniques
as well as information from the veterinary field about
the use of medications as part of problem resolution. We’ll
go over some sample cases to help you begin to think about
these problems in a more critical and scientific way.
The course comes with class notes and recommended readings.
You will receive a link via email a couple of days before

This course has been approved for 2.5 CEU hours from CCPDT
and CACVT. Can’t make the live course? No worries – online
replays are available immediately after each session and
for one week following the end of the course. CEUs can
be earned through listening to the replays by correctly
emailing us answers to “test” questions given
during the class
